For fun, I made my wife listen to "can't touch this" last night. I got to thinking about why MC. Hammer would have been a far superior president than Obama. Each could even had laid claim to the "first black American President" thing, too.

Here is my list, feel free to add on.

Remember the fashion idiocy surrounding Michelle and how she got on magazines and TV shows and such so that people could try to dress like her? Imagine that very same thing repeated with MC. Hammer's wardrobe. On the view, it would be Hammerpants for everyone!

We are fairly certain that MC. Hammer is a Christian (even if this does not matter to you). He was even a priest at one point. Obama seems to not be so sure.

Remember those speeches where basically Obama was begging compromise and stuff when congress was deadlocked? MC> Hammer's solution would be "Just for a minute, let's all do the bump. bump bump bump.". That would make for a way-better speech.

From 1985 to 1996, Hammer went 13 M into debt. To accumulate that same level of debt, Obama would take between four and five minutes.

Even with lyrics like:"With others makin' records that just don't hit I've toured around the world, from London to the Bay It's "Hammer, go Hammer, MC Hammer, yo, Hammer" And the rest can go and play" - Hammer seems much more humble than the President.

His nickname is Hammer. If he had Chuck Norris as running mate, the world would all immediately surrender.

A full 24 years after the term was coined, his legacy lives on in bumper stickers. How long will the "hope and change" stickers last?

(I know it's not a sticker. There is one near my house right now with the actual sticker)

Apologies if this is offensive, I think MC Hammer is hilarious. Please have fun with it. No floundering.

I'm sure he's not popular here, but I like Michael Moore's system for picking a candidate when they all seem to suck equally:

Who has the courage to jump into a mosh pit.

Michael Moore = "I've made millions off a system of economics I don't want YOU to like."

Otherwise, yeah, I'd vote for MC Hammer.

Unsound monetary policy:

Apparently, when MC Hammer sang "Can't Touch This," he was not singing about his money. The famed rapper's forty-member entourage outspent his $33 million income on lavish day-to-day living

Or, as my college U.S. Gov't professor suggested, debates don't really show you how a person will handle being a president. A better system would be to have a half dozen people barge into their hotel room at 3:30 in the morning and grill them on how they would handle hypothetical emergency scenarios.

Dr. Blade: I don't care much one way or the other about Michael Moore. I just want to see politicians jump into a mosh pit.

I put this on my list already!! it pales in comparison to how this president spends as compared to the last one (or how that president spent in comparison to the one before...)

In reply to Salanis:

I want to see Michael Moore jump into a mosh pit. He's got the bucks to pony-up for his defense against all those assault and/or manslaughter charges.

It would be a crushing blow against the system.

If we are all honest here, I think we can agree that Hammer was more an Evangelical conservative in the vein of George Bush.

If our choices are limited to black, hip-hop icons from the 90s for whatever arbitrary reason... I would toss a nomination to Biz Markie ahead of Hammer.

Possibly with Shock G from Digital Underground as a stand-by or running mate.

I base this entirely on my opinion that MC Hammer was overdone then and is unfunny now - even as a 3rd rate joke on bad reality TV. Clearly not Pres. material at all.

How is this thread anti-Obama? It's an objective discussion about each man's merits and his ability (or lack thereof) to run the country.

That would be very entertaining.

I think all political rallies, debates, sit-ins, protests, and political talking head shows would be better if we spiked their water with something interesting, and goaded them into moshing it out to The Who's "Won't Get Fooled Again".
