Hank Dogs - 18 dogs
Poor little house in the country,
18 dogs, an m-16 for company.
some cowboys commin over the horizon,
they'll be lookin for some hospitality.
Come on in boys the door's wide open,
but I'll warn you my dogs were born to win.
I'll take the greastest of pleasure,
in watchin you torn limb from limb.
Rumors startin down in the village,
those cowboys aint been heard of since that day.
But if anybody comes round askin questions,
Well I've got it worked out just what I'm gonna say.
Come on in boys the door's wide open,
but I'll warn you my dogs were born to win.
I'll take the greastest of pleasure,
in watchin you torn limb from limb.
Slayer is good at this game. Pretty much the entire Reign in Blood album by Slayer fits this. Other than the title track and Angel of Death, my favorite on there is probably Piece by Piece.
The song Dead Skin Mask on Seasons in the Abyss is about Ed Gein, so that fits as well.
Warren Zevon - Roland the Headless Thompson Gunner
The Lemonheads - Knoxville Girl
I have a soft spot for "Independence Day" by Martina McBride for a very specific reason.
She managed to make a song that gets played every 4th of July and people sing the chorus and get all "'Merica, berkeley yeah" without realizing it's about a woman who burned her and her abusive husband alive because everyone else around her was too cowardly to help her.
'Merica.

Your body will never be found
I'll wear your skin as a suit,
Pretend to be you
Your friends will like you more than they used to."

If your pointing a gun at someone and it goes off, accidentally or not, it's murder in my book. Maybe not prremeditated but still murder. Maybe negligent homicide?
Argggh! Someone mentioned Nick Cave before I could! Of course it was an Aussie...
Till the end of the world is one of my favorite murder songs of his. I think...
I have my tickets to see him next summer!
daeman wrote: Nice Cave's murder ballads is an entire album devoted to the theme, and one of my favorites. Stand outs for me are stagger Lee, O'Malley's bar and also the curse of millhaven, but really I like the whole album. He's got a fair few murderous and gruesom songs scattered around his other albums too. Lyre of orpheous is pretty damn good. Run to the hills by iron maiden also fits the bill
Hm. If the American military is shooting at American citizens, is that murder?
If it is, "Ohio", by Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young

Complete failure of every rule of basic firearm safety.
That said, Cash owned that song over the original harder than he did with Hurt.
In reply to joey48442:
Yeah, I figured no collection of songs about murder would be complete without a bit of Nick.
Im a bit jealous you're going to see him, he doesn't tour back home nearly often enough. Last time I saw him live was when he was out here with grinderman.
Meanwhile, being a fan, check out 20,000 days if you haven't already seen it.
Henry wagons, A hangman's work is never done
Probably more executioner than murderer though

Oh yeah! Definitely seen it! Can't wait to see the new one as well. We caught him last time for Push the sky away, and several years ago in 2001, or so.
YouTube jubilee street in Detroit! Such an awesome performance.
I am amazed by the lack of hip hop songs in this thread.
While not technically about murder, the song by Immortal Technique, Dance with the Devil is one of the most amazingly disturbing and well told songs I have heard.

There are a lot of songs about murder, but this is one of the few that I find very hard to listen to, especially given the circumstances surrounding it.

As soon as I read the title of this forum post that song's guitar riff started running through my head. It's berkeleying spooky.
Bad Bad Leroy Brown by Jim Croce:
Now Friday 'bout a week ago Leroy shootin' dice And at the edge of the bar Sat a girl named Doris And ooo, that girl looked nice Well he cast his eyes upon her And the trouble soon began Cause Leroy Brown learned a lesson 'Bout messin' with the wife of a jealous man
Well the two men took to fighting And when they pulled them from the floor Leroy looked like a jigsaw puzzle With a couple of pieces gone
I only like this song for the mouthed sound effects. Pew pew pew pew. https://www.youtube.com/embed/mWISiHcGoNg
