I was mostly a road bike racer from say, '79-'84, but if you worked in a bike shop you were exposed to "second hand BMX" every day at the height of the craze. Subsequently I had a Powerlite 26" cruiser which in retrospect was one of the coolest bikes I ever owned.
Years later I was looking for one - actually any 26" 80-82 cruiser - and ran into an old bike associate from the day. he was looking for an SOHC Honda CB750 - I told him of my quest for a '26 - he replied:
"Remember that GT I had? Campy cranks, Tuff-Neck, OMAS hubs, black Araya 7Xs w/ Snakebellys?"
"Oh yeah...that was such a cool bike..."
"It's in the basement closet still"
I happened to have a CB750 at that point. I'd buy one every couple years so I could use a complete Paul Dunstall cafe racer conversion kit I also happened to have - but once the parts were on it was simply fugly - and I'd take it apart and sell the bike.
I swapped the $250 CB + a pallet of parts for the GT.
It looks pretty much like this hotlinked one:
EDIT: I've removed the hotlinked image of the flawlessly restored one and replaced it w/ a shot of mine in the kitchen taken minutes ago. I wiped off a bit of the dust..
Moto, thats a sweet ride!

Mongoose rider here too. black with Yellow Skyway toff wheels II.
I rode the hell out of that bike. My ABA number: 5607
For the person looking for the Haro, Its not quite the right thing, but I have a blue/black Master I would sell if you are interested. Its from around the same time as the red one in that pic.
This was my attempt at a replica of Skyway sponsored rider, Maurice "drob" Meyer's first Street Beat.
This is how it looks now that it's currently in the possesion of Maurice "drob" Meyer
Full story can be found here
I think the master is newer? The one I have I didnt buy new, I think its a 1988 though.

That's a pretty kick ass story!
Sad part of that story is the guy on the top of that page, Dave Vanderspek
Hotlink of me. . .
When 38+20=15 again.
Wow, Curb Dogs. Such memories. One day I'll have to start scanning my old BMX stuff--there's tons of it all over the house.
i actually wish I could find some of the old T-shirts I used to buy at the bike sho p when I was a kid. I had some skyway stuff and Araya, and then newer generation stuff thats gone by the wayside like Scum branded goods and Hammer "Give blood, ride 20 inch" shirts...where can repro stuff like that be found?
A friend had an '82 Haro Freestyler - this was pre-Master. His mom threw it out with the trash after he moved out.
I know where there's a pretty complete & original Mike Buff CW in that bright orange color. I'd love to have it, even though I remember how crappy it rode when new.
I still have my autographed freestyle tour posters, all shrink-wrapped with cardboard backs: Haro from both the '86 & '87 tours, CW, and GT/Dyno(IIRC).
I owned and or sold most of the stuff discussed in this thread. Owned a bike/skateboard shop named Rad Robs from 84 to 09 that specialized in BMX. I held big freestyle contests, had a race team, freestyle team back in the 80's-90's. I freestyled, dirt jumped, rode ramps, street, raced class and cruiser in the NBL ABA UCI.
I'm about to build a Redline PL 20 with NOS parts a former employee gave me after he had it custom painted to match my Firebird. Haven't gotten around to scanning the old pics except this one taken at the NBL grands in the late 80's.

I wish I knew where to find that stuff. I still want to find the Play Clothing Leigh Ramsdell "Drunk on a Bike" t-shirt.
In my closet I still have a shirt that sez "20 inches of pure love". The looks I get from the ladies when I wear that one is priceless.

Yep. I think it's required watching, in fact.
