If anyone has interest in once-fired (?) 357 Sig brass, PM me.
Does anyone know of any good deals on surplus handguns? I bought a Star Model B a few years back for peanuts--haven't had the chance to shoot it yet, but I have an itch to buy a gun.

These guys have good deals from time to time: https://aimsurplus.com/
Most of the time the trade-in guns don't last long.

Local FFL was just mentioning that the PSA daggers have been really good. Not surplus, but cheap. Do you want a Star BM yo go with your B? How much was the B?
PSA Daggers have a pretty good rep from the folks I've talked to, but I've never personally handled one. It would probably be harder to re-sell down the road than a Glock, Sig or S&W trade-in if you decided not to keep it.

Be careful and know what airports you are going through. If you are delayed, rerouted, etc., and end up in a state where you cannot legally possess your firearm, do not let them give you your luggage. Do without until you meet up with your bag in a state where you can posses it.
Yes, be careful. There was a case the NRA was handling a few years back where a guy was told to pick up his luggage, including checked firearm case, and carry it to another location to re-check in. He was arrested by New Jersey's "finest" for illegal possession of a firearm during this hand carried transfer. If it was any state in the deep south, et al, no one would have cared. But you need to be very careful in anti-gun states where possession is a felony.
Anyone have experience with the Sauer rifle? I'm poor, so I'm looking at the base model, but I'm a traditionalist, so I want one with pretty wood furniture. I've all but settled on .243 Win. It will serve primarily as a paper punch.

A BM sounds basically like a duplication. The B, IIRC, was about $150. I'd prefer to avoid polymer frames if possible.
In reply to stroker :
The BM is just a "commander" version of the B, so yeah, pretty much the same.
I have seen surplus online, but never cheap enough to bother with.
You can get a Rock Island 1911 for under $400, new, though.
In reply to matthewmcl :
Actually thinking of doing an AR57 build with the complete multi lower that cheap and their single stage flat drop in 3.5lb match trigger on sale for $90... upper not cheap though, but as it is available would like to get it.
PSA Daggers are pretty decent but require some work if you want to upgrade the trigger and have it reliable... dead trigger seems too common with aftermarket Glock trigger/parts replacement and the good one that is guaranteed to work 100% is nearly $200... stock trigger is meh with that S&W hinged trigger design - stock Glock style blade upgrades are huge improvement (much lighter and cleaner break) other than the dead trigger issues sometimes (always recocks & works on a follow up slide rack though). Trigger and magazine release is really only thing I don't like about them. The Rock on the other hand is dang near perfect, most beautiful striker fired trigger have ever felt that is 100% reliable and magazine release which is where it should be and large enough in size.

If you already looking at not using the cheap trigger, have you looked at the KP-15 lower like in the WWSD? Brownells has them on sale for $70. They are pretty nice.
In reply to matthewmcl :
Wasn't familiar with KP15 lower so looked it up. Though it's a very decent deal, it's not the direction I want to go for a lower. Want shorter & adjustable LOP compared to a fixed rifle length stock and have a specific stock in mind for the AR57 build (Mission First Tactical Battlelink aluminum minimalist) and an adaptable AR15 lower (only want single AR15 lower) if decide to get other caliber uppers later on. Also prefer metal alloy to a polymer lower. With the $110 fully completed multical lower PSA deal (which includes ~$55-60 worth of Magpul furniture) I think that would be cheaper than trying to piece together a stripped lower.
In reply to Vracer111 :
I definitely understand going for the adjustable stock, though the A1 length of the KP-15 works pretty well. The nice thing about them is that they are light and shave an easy pound off of a build. I just looked at the stock you selected; it looks very nice. For reference, the aluminum minimalist lists 17 oz for just the stock, still needing to add the tube, lower, and grip. The KP-15 is 19 oz stripped. I currently have four different flavors of lower construction, so I can't say that any of the approaches are not good.
Edit: I do not have any fully stripped lowers to compare, but an aluminum lower, with a cheap LPK and an A2 grip, but no buffer tube, weighs 16.5 oz. Fun no matter which way you go.
The built lower would be ~2 oz heavier than a KP-15 lower if not for the buffer... AR57 buffer weighs roughly twice of an AR15 carbine buffer. Upper is where will really be saving the weight though - a complete AR57 rifle should weigh around what just the upper alone of an AR15 would.
Ordered everything late yesterday, all the non-FFL parts from PSA are now shipped....plus some more 5.7x28mm ammo.
Found the MFT aluminum minimalist stock and Precision Armament AFAB hybrid muzzle device on sale at Optics Planet and ordered them. Love the EFAB on my Aero M5, and the AFAB is the less complicated to manufacture budget version which is just a bit less effective (no big deal with 5.7x28mm...much bigger deal with .308 Win) but much less expensive. For optic will be using the Mepro M21 reflex sight in my inventory, can also run the PARD NV 008P.
Always have been interested in the FN P90, but don't have the money nor would want to go through the paperwork/regulations to own a full-auto rifle. Have no real interest in the PS90 version... The AR57 really interests me: don't mind semi-auto ARs, especially with good triggers, like it uses the P90 style magazine system with bottom ejection, and like it's close to half the price of a PS90.
Scattergun bump...
I lost interest in shotguns for interpersonal conflict resolution as soon as I started working seriously with ARs. ARs do just about everything better and are much easier to use effectively. That said, everyone should own a shotgun, because they are versatile and sometimes when almost all the other ammo is unobtanium, you can still find it for shotguns.
Having been without a shotgun for almost a decade, I debated over what to buy, and ended up going all John Wick with a Beretta 1301. Added some GG&G goodies and a spare Holosun I had lying around. I gotta say I really like this thing. It runs everything I've fed it, the action mitigates recoil pretty well, and it's got interchangeable chokes so I could even shoot clays and birds if I want to.
I wouldn't mind a Mossy 930. I have the 500 pump and an extremely old Remington Model 11 (1908 manufacture). The M11 can't really handle anything than low brass bird shot and the pump has a cut down full choke barrel so no slugs. But it's friggin awesome at be a trap gun.
In reply to Rodan :
Sweet setup there. If going semi-auto the Beretta A300 Ultima Patrol would be my choice. Thought about maybe a pump Mossberg 590, but am not really and never really been much into shotguns. I know they're versatile and useful, just don't 'float my boat' as the saying goes.
The Kick's Buck Kicker muzzle brake/choke is really the only reason was interested in maybe getting a Mossy 590. Was thinking of building a shotgun just because of a specific choke/brake device that OG's Danger Show demoed... LOL Is a sweet and well performing device though from what I've seen tested from various people. Nothing like tightening the spread and improving recoil at same time.
Kick's Buck Kicker Choke/Brake
Got the Panzer Arms AR57 upper in the other day, and yeah, think am going to REALLY like it. Fit it with my dad's Aero M4 lower and yep a fully functional AR57 with my 14+oz Mepro M21 optic weighs right around what just a built up AR15 upper does. PSA lower should be in next week and just ordered some things last night from Primary Arms to complete build: Reptilian CQB grip, BCM M-Lok vertical foregrip & M-Lok rail grip panels, an inexpensive translucent 30rd AR mag to convert into a brass catcher, Precision Armament accu-washer kit [as the set I have is for 5/8×24 size not 1/2×28], and previous gen Primary Arms SLx MD25 reddot [because on sale at ~60% price, have been interested in that optic for a while, and will be 1/2 weight & size of Mepro M21].
After practicing with it the AR57 upper on the Aero lower and figuring out best method to reload, decided am going to switch the charging handle over to LH side and cut down the LH side of the magazine release lever so it's flush to receiver. Magazine release can be pushed or pulled from either side, too awkward to use charging handle with the magazine release lever sticking out just behind and above it though.
In reply to Vracer111 :
Those Buck Kicker brakes are pretty nice, but all of the 'test' videos seem to show buck results with a full or x-full choke. Of course a full choke is going to have a tight pattern... but it's not very useful if you need to toss in a slug.

I think you are going to cost me some money.
In reply to spitfirebill :
Yesterday I got an email from them about some shotgun ammo and by the time I opened the email they were out of stock...
The AR57 is the shortest & lightest rifle I've done, right @ 33" and just under 6.5lbs currently without a gutted & modded 30rd AR15 magazine converted into a brass catcher.
Not quite complete yet, getting another 5 slot MDT pic rail for LH side to make a mini-quad config. Also have some Troy micro HK style deployable iron sights coming in (may just run irons, will try both and see what I prefer being this is mainly a 100 yard and in rifle - will say I much prefer the PA SLx prism scope to their SLx red-dot) and a sling mount for clip type sling I've had forever but never used.
The PSA Custom series Match trigger is REALLY nice - absolutely impressed with it: Everything you'd want in a nice single stage match trigger for 1/2 to 1/3 the price of the competition. No set-screw config to lock it into the lower but even so the pull is most excellent - light pull weight with zero creep, and clean break with a nice postive reset. A bit longer reset than a really high end trigger, but that's about it. Best $90 trigger I've ever felt...
The Reptilia CQC grip seems like it will work out... my hand just fits on it's shorter length and it's just a bit girthier than a Magpul K2. Might stipple the sides though to give it more stick.
Really looking forward to shooting this one...
