So, after 9 or 10 years, SWMBO convinced me to replace my boots that I use for damn near everything. Any hints on getting these broken in quicker? The old pair is soft, comfortable and molded to my feet.
Granted, the soles have been superglued back together a couple times, several pairs of laces, and the tread is all but completely gone...I know I needed new ones, but dang they are comfy.
The new ones? painfully stiff
You can soak them in a bit of warm water to soften them up and just wear them around until they dry. Other than that, just wear them as much as possible and walk around a lot -- and have a blister kit handy.
Soak some dress socks in water and let them hang dry. They will get hard and slick (giggity). Put them on. Take a pair of larger soft socks and wear them over. No more blisters.
I'd just wear thin poly pro socks under regular socks

This times 1000000
That's a lot of socks. I don't think he'd be able to get his new boots on.
