So this inspirational gentleman from across the pond fixed up his vw pretty well by making his own itb intake with self cast AL and carbon fiber/kevlar, amongst other amazing bits.
He had a wonderful DIY with way too much nerdy info at http://vagdrivers.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=39794 , but he took it down.
He has since re-posted the majority of his metal casting and fabricatin stuff here and here
but I can't find his carbon fiber stuff! Including his carbon fiber spoon.
I tried the internet archive, but I can't seem to find it, my google foo has been weak this month and I can't find it.
Can you help?
Because pictures are more fun than words:
Thanks,
Mike
yeah, I remember the carbon fiber spoon on VAG drivers, I dont think it made the jump. There was some activity from this guy a few years back on a forum called VAG Ninjas (seriously, thats what it was called, you cant make this stuff up), but Im not finding it at this moment.
Brian Garvey. He's from Ireland.
Some carbon work on p2 (edit: AND THE SPOON IS HALFWAY DOWN PAGE 1!!!! What do I win?)
"I have chosen to remove my build thread off vagdrivers for a few reasons. Its continuing as normal on the links below, Thanks Guys! [links that daytonaer posted]"
(from here)
Dredging up a zombie...my Google-Fu is weak today.
Brian.G is a maniac who was clearly on his way toward world domination by casting and machining his own parts, literally from the ground up, by designing and scratch building his own patterns and jigs. At one point, he was incorporating CNC machining into the mix, when he began work on an aluminum and Carbon composite LSD...that he was making DIY from scratch.
I know he had threads going on VW Vortex, and Club GTI. Also looks like he had a thread going on VAG Drivers, but some turbulence there caused him to take his posts and move along. Ive not been able to find any activity anywhere from him since early 2015. I dont see any posts where his vehicles/projects were completed. As a recovering casting addict, I NEED to see his intake manifold completed, and the engine running, but looks like hes gon dark. Some of his signatures had links to a facebook page that is dead. He also had a website, which I did visit a few times several years ago, www.Precisionformula.com ...he was making carbon fiber and CNC aluminum picture frames and lamps and whatnot, and selling them thru the site.
I truly hope nothing has happened to this guy, he really was the epitome of the "control all aspects of my build" approach, and his work was top notch. Can anyone look, or has anyone seen anything from this guy in the last year?
YES YES YES!!! Thanks! I dont twitter, but I may have to start!
In reply to 4cylndrfury:
Me either, but that was near the top of the Google results, and looking at his feed it sure seemed like it could be the same guy. Glad it is!
near the top? Maybe im doing it wrong?!?
Thanks all the same!
Weird, I was just thinking about the "Crazy Irishman's" build last week and was unable to come up with anything.
Thanks for the perfect timing, 4cylndrfury and petegossett!
I spent a TON of time following him on vortex, he was either really good at learning off the cuff or he was spending a lot of time studying and watching others people who know what's going on. It was inspirational.

That guy was amazing and a touch fearless. Much like what I see many of the GRM Fabricators do here...
