Actually, he's right. These were also called rotary engines, before the invention of the Wankel rotary type. The propellor is bolted directly to the engine casing, and the crank is bolted directly to the firewall. The whole engine rotates with the prop for cooling. Made them very easy to turn right; left, not so much. What you're talking about is a "stationary" radial, where the casing is bolted to the firewall and the prop is bolted to the crank.
