If you are loosening, you are doing it wrong. Set the end of the breaker bar against the frame and hit the starter.

If you guess wrong about the direction the engine rotates, you'll know right away.

Actually, no, I was doing it right. It was just a bastard bolt. I don't do the starter "trick", because if I do, I will probably need a starter after I am done. It is still original in this vehicle.

I made a flywheel holder for NA and turbo RX-7s out of a piece of angle iron. It was still a bitch to get the flywheel nut off. I need air tools myself.

something like this, except the flywheel nut on an RX-7 is much larger.
