Not really a Miata concept, that's the "Club Racer". It was the first modified Miata, unveiled at the same time as the production Miata in Chicago 1989. It was at the Mitty in 2011, by the way.
There was no publicly displayed concept Miata. However, this running mule caught some attention when it was taken on a test on public roads.

What about the 1995 Speedster? That was a concept and publically displayed (and sat in by me and Tom Matano)
Pedantry attack!
I was thinking "concept" in terms of preproduction teaser, like that Viper. Mazda has certainly screwed around with show cars. Although that's a pretty late picture of the Speedster - and you and Tom aren't the only ones who have sat in that car Club Sport, Speedster, M Coupe, Monoposto, Super20, etc - all just modified versions of the existing car, not previews of anything to come. It's quite possible I'm the only one here who's been on the track in the Coupe show car...
The Speedster started off as the Miari, of course. Some sort of Ferrari tribute. And it was also in The Fast and the Furious.
In reply to Keith Tanner:
Note the doors on the speedster. Definately NB style preproduction teaser.

One small styling cue doesn't make the car a preproduction teaser in my book. Heck, in early 1995 I doubt that Mazda knew what the NB was going to look like.
Fun fact: the very first web page I wrote had a inline picture of the brand new Speedster show car. Probably that exact picture you just linked.
The infamous 1998 spy shot from the Miata mailing list.
