That looks like an overly complicated answer to a question that didn't need asking in the first place. If you have package space issues put the front diff next too the sump with the drive shaft passing through the sump a-la Cosworth Sierra/Escort

GM kinda got a clue with the Trailblazer.
I've kinda had a hair brained idea of a LSX powered 325ix using the oil pan/diff from a Trailblazer, or entire engine assembly from a Trailblazer SS.
