Been thinking about doing something like that for some civil war rifles that are in my family. Only holdup is that the table would end up being worth almost new car money. Not sure I want to display valuables like that and even less sure in the case of firearms. In the meantime, they live in a safe in a safe location.
The nice thing with doing it with Mosins they are still fairly inexpensive 
Though get them while you can the supply is starting to dry up.
Though some Civil War era guns would be freakin AWESOME
