It was a good old airplane with very docile engine out handling. I flew it home one morning with the right engine failed, the crankshaft snapped as I was retracting the landing gear on takeoff. It would make a fine race car.

These always looked like they would be a hoot to operate. Are they? They do have a good look about them. The fuselage/surfaces/engine/nose ratio just seems well done on them.
In reply to nocones:
The 31 is the nicest handling lear that I have flown. The delta fins (below the rudder) basically eliminate the dutch roll that the earlier versions had. The longer wing, without tip tanks also help with the dutch roll and make it a pretty good short field airplane. On all lears the controls are very well balanced. With a light load of fuel and 2 or 3 people aboard a 10,000 feet per minute climb is achievable to about 20,000 feet. I also flew the 24,25 and 35. They are all amazing performers.

Just another stance junkie.....
This is the sister ship to the first Lear that I flew, it is a Lear 24. We hauled auto parts all around the country in it. 2 Guys in their early to mid twenties could always find some educational experience flying it in all types of bad weather any time of day or night. It was the best experience of my life, so far.
