It's a device as American as a monster truck.

Let's come up with a round (bottom right) that is both faster and over 8 times heavier than the original "tank killer" round, the .50 BMG:

A gun/cannon that can fire these things at over 4,000 rounds per minute (roughly 4x the rate of, say, your average submachine gun):

And since something that big is a little too much to be man portable or even vehicle-mounted, we'll just build an airplane around it. Something really massively armored and redundant to OCD levels, basically a flying tank.

And, oh, hell, while we're at it, since that isn't quite enough, let's stick a whole lot of pylons under there so it can carry just about anything we've ever dreamed up:

It's small wonder that this thing seems like the Internet's favorite aircraft.

DoneBrokeit, that's an embossed tin ceiling. They make reproductions now out of thin paintable plastic.

(it can hide a multitude of ceiling sins behind it)
