There's my wife by the hole (2'x6' ish) in the shanty/shack. The spear is hanging there with the rope, with the tips in the water. Wait for a sturgeon to swim by that's bigger than your decoy, and glide the spear down at it. I've never seen one in the water, let alone one that's big enough. People go for years even decades without seeing anything. It turns into a party on the ice.
I always thought ice fishing was just an excuse to drink all day?
BTW, the only sturgeon that I've ever seen in person probably wouldn't fit through that hole.
I think a Gen 1 Boxster would lend itself to this wonderfully.
