Not my car, but a picture from our first autocross of the year.
I drove a friends DP miata (on 200tw street tires) and we had a test and tune the next morning with the same course setup. I ran my STS miata (on skinny SNOW TIRES general altimaxes) and beat my time in the DP car.

Maybe he actually drives the car, and chose the tires because they were the best tire for what he wanted to do and not out of whatever some random guy on the internet thinks is correct? Of course, what do I know, I just put Vietnamese tires on a Chevy pickup...
