That started life as a series 2 2+2 car. Considered by 99 percent of etype owners as nothing more than a parts car. I actually applaud the builders for their thinking when it came to reshaping the car. The roofline is the problem but they improved it greatly by reshaping the bottom of the car. Adding more volume at the rockers balanced out the awkward roofline better than any chop top would have done.

The problem with the Jag- It's a matter of not being part of the culture of the car, and making all sorts of mistakes "we" can identify. However, just like I got told not to flip out over a Porsche with Bridgestone tires, some people aren't culturally a-tuned enough to see the problem. Driven and Speedhunters are all gaga over ghastily incongruous details. They are so, so wrong, but evidently the kids don't care.IndyJoe wrote:OK, the Hemi Healey has historic provenance... but this jerk should have known better.
different flavors man. Some people are fans of the beauty of classic OEM equipment that has been kept in working order, some people like old quirky cars that werent reliable so they put something in them that is reliable so they can still enjoy the beauty of the car with less maintenance, some people just like good ol' fashion dirty speed and will turn anything into a hot rod/race car, and theres a lot in between (like porsches with bridgestones )
And with the Hemi Healey having historic provenance, how do you think it got its provenance? someone did an american v8 swap into a small car it was never meant to fit in then went and did cool stuff with it, dont you think that pissed of some Healey enthusiasts back in the day?
its all in the eye of the bee-holder
and in honor of car/engine mis-matches and not respecting its historical roots, a Group b rally Metro 6R4 with a Honda K20. (dont worry, its just a replica )
Damn, a fried just posted a pic of my old winter beater. It was a 4.2L Crown Vic this is circa 1995, I'm the one standing on the passenger rocker. I didn't know any pics existed of this car.
I just found out that a Ford 5.0 Coyote V8 with 435 hp/ 400 lb-ft and the controls pack for a manual transmission is only $7k from Jegs.

Then I spent the last half hour figuring out which car would I 'bench race' with it...
More of a grand touring with a MN-12 T-bird?
Grab the cheapest 4.6/5 speed Mustang?
Or a 2005 P71 with a manual swap?
Maybe grab an old F100 and toss it in there?
Hell even a Jag ran through my head..
This Ranchero looks lonely..
