Probably because the C10 rear suspension from that body style was really good when modified for track usage. I was told once that NASCAR used a modified version of the C10 trailing arm setup for many years after the trucks had changed.

Not only used it for a while, they still do and they are commonly referred to as Truck Arms.

I was aware of this. Probably why Bovey gets away with doing so little to his GMC.
