The little yellow bar across the top, hanging under the lift's upper crosspiece, is a safety switch. If that bar goes up, power to the lift is shut off. You DO NOT WANT THIS TO HAPPEN if you happen to click onto a safety latch when this happens, because you have to raise the lift to get it off of a safety.
