IIRC from looking at it a couple years ago it is the original engine with some work like carbs, header, higher compression etc.

In regards to chopping off bits, I think lots of hospitals are still pushing it because they use the foreskin for skin grafts and stuff. Really. We got asked three times when our son was born and we finally had to become a bit indecorous in order for them to get the idea.

Those were a semi popular rally cars back when they were newish. Fairly speedy for the day, with 2.6 liters of thundering, head gasket blowing Mitsu power. See that water passage right by the oil drainback hole near cylinder 4? That's the spot, on exactly 100% of the many 2.6 engines I fixed back in the old days.
