I think the reason for us aussies not having such a hang up on 4 doors is because we only ever had a limited number of Aussie 2 doors.
It's a case of manufacturers not having a large enough market to sell enough 2 doors to justify their development. Not to say that they didn't try, but that there's a reason they died out here.
Plus there's the practicality factor, which is why we ended up with muscle sedans, wagons, utes and panel vans.
The one feature from Australian Valiants that I'd like on mine is the radiused rear wheel opening. The "Forward Look" kept the top of the tire covered, and it's a little odd stying in that part of the car. Even the American station wagon Valiants had the radiused openings.
On the other hand, I much prefer the C-pillar and rear window of the American cars. The Aussie cars were more vertical, more like the '67-up cars had. Also, who doesn't like the vestigal fins of the Plymouths?
... and that face! Love it!
Let's not even talk about the Canadian Vart (Valiant / Dart hybrid).
This styling critique brought to you by a bad morning at work.
I parked in my wife's garage spot as her work truck is at work, she is at home for the week, and my garage door's torsional spring snapped a couple days ago. And if you back straight out of her garage spot there are trees there. I wasn't paying enough attention. Lets blame everything else from crying kids in car seats or parking in a different spot... But it's just me. Blame me. I wasn't paying attention.
$130 shipped in 8-10 days from RockAuto. At least the youtube video shows it being replace in less than a minute.

You need to meet Japan
When I was a kid in Puerto Rico, ( about 10 or 11 years old) me and some buds discovered a cave where we had to crawl through a hole like this to get to the deepest parts. Never did tell the parents about. Nowadays, I shudder to think about crawling through that rock womb.
