Ah aircraft, that explains it. I may have seen it and just not realized it then, I thought it was some bizarre car motor.
Sleeve valve engine. In a Willys Knight. For this year and car, it's pronounced Willis. The K is still silent in Knight.

1970 GMC C10 long bed. Last seen running Targa Newfoundland with an LS7, T56, and a mostly stock chassis.They decided to change a few things.
