Gibson (neuromancer) and sterling (snowcrash) wrote a good alternate history steampunk novel where difference engines worked as well as babbage envisioned. Basically, it assumed that the information age started in the victorian era. Fun read

So i went down to my appartment garage and next to my rx8, where a newer GTi usually sits, I see one of these: It's a little rough around the edges, has some minor rust here and there, ya know, good charachter. I don't know the guy who parks next to me, but I now know he is awesome.
