For one, "Talking on the cell phone causes 25% of car crashes" based on what? A phone in use at the time of the accident? If so then why not "Using a steering wheel causes 100% of car crashes"

Well, common sense would say that a phone is a distraction from the act of driving. Can't exactly say the same for a steering wheel.
Although, being enthusiasts I think we tend to cherry-pick any information that may or may not serve our hobby. I can say I'm a helluva lot more concerned about people's cell phone/texting use on the road than I am "excessive speeding".
requisite:
"Alcohol still remains the cause of 32% of all road fatalities."
That means that 68% of all road fatalities are caused by sobriety - and it's on the rise!
