I always wonder why Burt doesn't join the horizontal stabs. It would be so much stronger. But I guess he always does things the odd way. I also guess it has to do with payload clearance.

I suspect that is because it is designed to launch rockets. Rockets make big flame, big flame make horizontal stab go by by.
I think they drop then fire them though, but still, maybe clearance for larger payload or just the chance anything flies back at launch (not seperate cleanly etc).
