The LXE is a drivable parts car for a project that I've not yet started and may never. The Contour sadly is not a manual but will be for sale within a week or so. 111k mile grandma car. Right now, its in hovermode in my messy workshop:

Dang, I can't decide what I want the most: a Contour SVT, a first-gen V6 Contour built up to SVT specs, or a 4-cylinder manual Contour made into a dirt oval racer.
There is a Facebook group called "Oregon Inlet Idiots" that features cars getting stuck trying to drive on the outer banks. It can be good for a chuckle from time to time, but like many other places on the internet, it is full of people being mean spirited. A pretty constant thread is that you NEED 4x4 to drive in the sand. It can get ugly, and a sure fire way to cause an argument is to point out that the contact patch of the tire, weight of the vehicle and skill of the driver have more to do with driving in sand than anything else.
I'd really like to gather up a bunch of the cars posted here and drive from near the inlet up to Corolla to shut everybody up.
I'd especially like to take a lifted Miata.
