True, but the fire here is crazy at the moment.
Here's the view from my back fence
its midday in the middle of summer.... It looks like daybreak in winter.

Was just about to start a thread asking everyone downunder to check in. Hadn't seen you post in a while, mate.
In reply to Appleseed :
May still pay to start one? I dunno how many other Aussies are amongst us. Thanks for checking in mate, I'm all good for now, and don't think we'll be in immediate danger even if the fire shifts direction and heads for town. At this stage I feel the house will be defendable if E36 M3 hits the fan.
Fires about 12-15 mile out at the moment, so we're alert not alarmed.
In reply to Woody :
Corrugated iron, house is double brick. If the fire turns out way, down pipes will be blocked and the gutters will be filled. Ember attack will be the biggest threat, direct heat/fire shouldn't be an issue

Yeah F that noise. Here's hoping they get that all under control soon. Just looking at that haze is giving me a headache.
In reply to barefootskater :
Yeah, it's a bit harsh on the eyes and throat. It's still going to be a while and some favorable wether conditions before they'll be able to make any real impact on the fires unfortunately.
