something attacked my watermelon. The 12 year old claimed to see a beaver this morning, something big and brown, I suspect ground hog.

I might have seen this going at a brisk pace earlier this summer.
Lake Alfred AOMCI meet from a year or so back
I was just gonna say something about articulating landing gear, there's a lot of the world I don't kow about.

Umm, I don't think it's supposed to look like that.
Seriously though, you can get really bad rust here where beach driving is allowed. Cars in the Florida keys will rust just from the salt in the air.
One of the saddest things I ever saw in that regard was an AAR Cuda up to the door handles in the surf. They'd been doing donuts on the beach and straightened out going the wrong direction. I hope it wasn't stolen, the show they were putting on sure made it look like it.

The guy who bought it is fustrated but told him he should have looked at it better.
In reply to Gary :
True fact, the Napier Railton was so large, not to accommodate the engine, but to accommodate John Cobb's balls. Another little known fact is said balls were made of depleted uranium before we even started refining and using the stuff.

Hahaha! I love that description of John Cobb. How true. I always thought he had big brass ones! To do what he attempted at Loch Ness proved that. But unfortunately his luck ran out that day.
Oh, and BTW, I saw the Napier-Railton Special at Brands Hatch back in May, 2002, where it ran parade laps between vintage races. Very impressive. (So was the Lancaster and Hurricane warbirds that did a flyover). I just wish John Cobb had been driving the Special that day.
Unrelated ... garage find on Block Island, RI, that I discovered a few weeks ago, last registered in 2013:
I started out at early dark 30 this morning in a windy rain storm to make a couple of site visits for possible work in northern NH. I decided to reward myself by taking “ a road less traveled” on my way home. Admired this view for a bit and returned a couple of work calls because I had surprisingly good cell service. Made the day for me.
