1963 Porsche 356 B T6 Coupe GT Outlaw

Finished in Silver Metallic with a Red interior. Restored in the mid-2000s by a local Porsche collector from Orange Country, California. The paint and bodywork was done by East Auto Body, taken down to bare metal and the interior was done by Autos International. During the restoration, this rust-free California 356 was converted into a GT Outlaw look. Options include; GT aluminum bumper deco trim with no bumperettes, side deco delete, European French amber headlight lenses, Magnesium offset 5.5” wheels with Good Year 205 60 15 tires and spacers, GT side mirror, roll bar mounts with removable roll bar, custom Carrera rear valance, Custom-built dual exhaust system, rear emblem delete, GT plexiglass side windows, Speedster seats with GT seat frames, Nardi wood steering wheel, VDO Oil pressure gauge along with all of the gauges meticulously restored by North Hollywood Speedometer.

Mechanically the 912 engine (engine number 743127) was custom built to 1900cc, Scat crank, Cunningham rods, JE pistons, 10.3:1 compression, Twin plug, cylinder heads ports cleaned up and matched, HD springs, Elgin cam, full-flow oil system with front-mounted coolers, and piston squirters with approximately 150hp. The 741 transmission was reconditioned by Wertstatt (John Bunnin) in San Diego, it was completely disassembled, cleaned, and inspected. The stock ratio gears were used, the bearings were replaced, 4 new synchros, new bearing cage, synchro anchor, upgrade ring gear bolts, reset ring and pinion, shift forks, and rails as well as a reseal. Suspension: Koni shocks were installed with a front sway bar and the drum braking system including custom GT style air intake backing plates with reinforced control arms. The electrical system was also upgraded to a 12-volt system.

The current owner purchased this 356 in 2004 and over a 2-year period, restored this 356 from the ground up. Being a California 356 for several decades, the floor pans and battery box are very solid and well preserved. The GT Coupe has been driven to and shown at the North meets the South in Central California multiple times and also shown at the Southern California Porsche 356 Club concour in Dana Point and has won several awards.

This is a very enjoyable 356 to drive with a very powerful engine that accelerates quickly. The exhaust tone sounds great, the transmission shifts smoothly, and the four-wheel drum brakes stop the car straight. It is very rare to find a 356 T6 Coupe set up to GT specifications that has been restored to such a high standard.

Offered for $laugh

Our financial advisor advised against. It'd be a small chip from our nut. And an investment. OK, maybe it should have discs instead of drums. The little guy on my shoulder is cheering me on. I'm close to 72 YO and this is a "dream car," and we want to do classic rallys with something we love. Hmm.

In reply to Gary :

Okay, so you want it, and apparently can afford it. And you're 72.

I'm a bit younger at 65, and can't justify the financial decision of owning my miata, or any fun cars for that matter. Do you think we'll get another chance at this? Seems unlikely.

Do it.

Thank you! Indeed. I appreciate the encouragement and enabling. I already have a spectacular low milage '96 NA Miata which I enjoy immensely. I just took this pic in my garage a few minutes ago. (The Nurburgring sticker on the taillight is my badge of honor. Bought it there. I did three laps of the Nordschleiffe in May, '99. Two behind the wheel and one on the right seat:

I now want a 356 Outlaw coupe while I can still enjoy it! (Our son gets everything after we're gone ... and he loves Porsches. So he wins and we're happy).

105109th post in the thread.

Also, an often missing piece in the parts bag of inexpensive furniture you put together yourself.

The woody Caprice rendering (which I didn't notice about it 'til I saw it on the PC) is awesome, but I'm always bummed when I see something cool and then find out it's just a pic.

It's very much the vibe of what I'd love to do with a similarly-specced GM G-Body or Dodge Diplomat...

PSA.
Teach your kids when driving to stay off their damn  phone. Wife and kids got rear ended today at a Red light!!  By a 20 year old that was more worried about where his phone went in his car before he even apologized.
Somehow his Camry escaped with scratches, my van not so much..

I tried to take pic but hard to see, but underneath where the "frame" meets the "body" there's a foot long crack.
Thankfully everyone walked away fine, and thankfully I own the van.

Time to find out how good his insurance is..

Happened to me at a stoplight here in Michigan, home of “it’s your own fault if someone hits you.” Moving from a real state I was thrilled that we’d just gotten a payday. Nope. No consequences for him at all, cop believed his story about how someone pushed his undamaged truck into my damaged van.

WTF is up with that? I have had it explained to me, at State Farm Headquarters no less by a corporate trainer, and I still did not understand how it possibly could make sense.

ONLY thing I can think of is that they're saying "if you have a Ferrari, it's your own liability to drive it on the road and if the guy in the Kia runs into it, it shouldn't bankrupt him"

...but that's why the guy in the Kia has insurance...

The way you can tell it's just an insurance racket in cahoots with corrupt politicians is because if this were truly the philosophy then insuring my own vehicle would be optional, because it's not worth the cost of the premiums

Also, maybe they're counting on the judicial system to keep other drivers accountable for their actions; it's against the law to leave an accident before a cop shows up. And then if you hit someone your premiums will raise because of that.

But this is all just my guessing and it's stupid and I hate it. Why is someone else's bad driving ever to my financial cost? We didn't NEED the rear gate fixed, but had we NEEDED the front end fixed we would have been out of money to the tune of our deductible, $1k (which we kept that high partly because it's not likely we'll hit someone, but maybe because insurance is backward in MI we should lower it..??)
