Unfortunately I know nothing about it, the pic just reminds me I got here a couple decades too late. As much fun as I like running our Mods I wish they weren't such cookie cutter cars.

The Gremlins were pretty much the last remaining "stock body" cars when I was a kid. I believe the person ruining the cars with aero was Gary Balough. He takes that car out to a lot of races up here and it's an awesome piece but it really started an unfortunate trend.
Edit, I could be wrong I grew up around pavement cars and came to dirt later on. When I was a kid modifieds were pretty much all "Cavaliers"

SS-571, the Nautilus is still around? I was a Plankowner on SSN-679 but they didn't call me when the boat was decommisioned and torn apart.
Hyman G. Rickover was a PITA by the way. I cooked for officers, when he visited he brought his goofy food requests with him. Wanted buttermilk one day, we didn't have any. He sent my boss out to gt some (new London, CT) Roger waited until he left then wrote a letter explaining his $0.78 investment. He received a check from HG for $0.78 which hang over his bar now.

I agree that the other pic is a Supermodified, This pic looks like the Syracuse Fairgrounds before they tore it down. Is it? I need to go see the new Super Dirt Week up at the Steel Palace. I love going to Oswego to watch the Supers run.
Syracuse fairgrounds has been torn down?
I guess I shouldn't be surprised. It seems like everywhere that I a raced a horse (NY Sire Stakes 3 YO trotting colt, 1978) is eventually going to disappear.
Spotted this on a neighborhood walk recently. What is it?
When I hung around dirt tracks in the mid-'70s, the old steel bodied coupes were still about half of the mix, with the rest being Gremlins or Pintos, with a few Chevettes thrown in. I mostly watched at Bridgeport in NJ because that's where my buddy's father used to race Sportsmans. I can't remember any of the names any more but we used to scratch build models of these cars, fabricating the tube frames out of plastic stock and kitbashing the rest. These are both pics from Syracuse I think but the cars were similar.

Best Rickover story I heard was a potential boat Captain is brought into his office for his interview. Rickover would do all sorts of weird things. The rumor mill that developed because of it didn't help the candidate. Rapid fire math, an hour of silence, anything to see how you handled it.
Rickover hits him with, " Piss me off."
The candidate paused for a second, then upended his desk. He got his boat.
Can you imagine strapping yourself into this and racing 10/10th? Old racing drivers had very little imagination.

Yes, a few years ago, they renovated the fairgrounds and took out the track. They made the fair grounds really nice but sad to see it go. That being said I never really loved that race or that track so it didn't hurt my feelings, more of a general sadness that tracks die off.

This pic is our cars at Orange County this past October for Eastern States Weekend. The car on the left is the small block car we run everywhere and on the right is the new big block car we got that weekend. Super mods at Oswego is one of the bucket list trips we haven't gotten around to yet, I saw them at Star years ago and it was unreal how quickly they got around there.
In reply to Duke :
This was us at Bridgeport in November. They just redid the place and it's a really nice track to go to. We will probably be back a few times next year.

Question, Duke! Where could I find info on how these are built, chassis wise and what they can do? 'Cause there's a Gremlin near me on the cheap that I would TOTALLY Mad-Max out into a street legal version of one of these.
In reply to GIRTHQUAKE :
Used Modified chassis are fairly inexpensive. Here's a Facebook group that has a bunch of builds on it. https://m.facebook.com/groups/1818046445088846?group_view_referrer=search
In reply to GIRTHQUAKE :
I hear that, I have been wanting to do this with a Pinto to make a Richie Evans street car for a long time...

that's me in mine back in the day. Scary speed to safety ratio, but fun cars.
