Well, I used to hate movie adaptations, because they were different from the book, and I wanted The Book but in audiovisual form.
Anymore, I have come to respect that when you hand the reins to someone else for a project, it becomes their vision and idea, and it is going to necessarily be different from your vision and idea. In that respect, I'd disown an adaptation, too, because the new creator deserves the credit for its success or failure.
Giving credit where credit is due might require actively distancing yourself.

I saw this one for sale on my local FB marketplace. I bet it's still for sale, but I couldnt find it again in 2 minutes of searching. I think they were asking 3k.
