I know nothing about it other than the picture showed up on a Facebook page this morning. Maybe his other vehicle is a Chevy.....
My nephews trying to "sweep" the dog. She is very patient with them and they squealed with laughter for quite a while.
This is a 1965 Cobra with a 289. Third owner but still has less than 24,000 miles, valued at $1.5 million.
Check my math:
This cost $6500 in 1965. Gold in 1965 was $35.09/oz. $6500 would buy 185.23 oz.
2020 price of gold was $1,887.60/oz.
$1,887.60 X 185.23 = $349,640.15
So.... This car is worth more than Gold?

Sure, but rarity has to have something to do with the price. There were only 655 289 Cobra's produced (so this is 1 of 655) and there is approximately 187000 metric tons of gold in the world. So 185 of 6,596,230,880 or 1/3,565,5302.
Ahh but is it worth its WEIGHT in gold? Let us see
1965 Cobra 289- quick check yields 2,100 lbs
16 oz to the #, so 33,600 oz of car there.
At $1,887.60 per ounce, it's not looking good.
Answer says: value was $61,923,360 short.
Two possible ways to clear its tarnished name: severe weight reduction (perhaps an ecoboost could shave off 2,050 and 1/3 lbs??) ORRR since it's increased in value by 230x over the past 55 years, whereas gold has only increased in value 53.7x in that same amount of time, you're just looking at a race. A very LONNNNG race. Like... the car may be made out of magnesium by then.

Is it worth more than gold? no.
Was it a better investment than buying gold? Emphatically yes.

Probably a step for the aristocrats who ride in the back. The driver doesn't need such luxury.
