Visiting my sister in law in Virginia Beach and this morning a little visual surprise across the street.
In reply to 914Driver :Was the standard way to fill during a race 'fill till it spills' back then rather than dumping in X gals?

Replying for 914 driver and my photo. The answer is yes. The officials were trying to clamp down on it, and there was a major discussion after the incident in the Lime Rock photo, which is about 4 years after the Bridgehampton pic that 914 posted.

As long as we don't read about you in a story that starts "A Florida man..."
You, or your neighbor? Last summer when we were walking our neighborhood every day, somebody bought a house with 3-4 big trees like that in the yard. Within the month they were gone - and worse, they left the stumps sticking up about 2-3 ft. Still there this summer.
In reply to Duke :
Me.
The roots already caused a massive sewage issue earlier this year, it is wrecking the driveway, and a couple of the branches overhanging the house were dead/dying and I have been nervous with every wind storm that I'd come home to half a tree sticking out of my bedroom roof.
We really wanted to keep it, but it was becoming a major liability. Especially since half of it was over/under the neighbor's house.
We have a bigger one in the back yard and a couple smaller ones.

You mean every homeowner on 1/4 acre doesn't have their own stump grinder and trio of chainsaws?

I'd have gone with a Hellephant crate motor. Or a cranked-up 5.9L 12V Cummins

Going to rent a stump grinder to reduce what is left?
They were here for ten hours on Tuesday, were supposed to come back on Wednesday to collect the rest of the tree bits and grind the stump.
It's Thursday night, stump still here.
Hummer cap for sale near me. Has a warning on it to leave the door open when occupied because it's so tightly sealed.....
