I'd love to see a diagram of the steering linkage...
The first SCCA road races I experienced were here around 1964. I was a kid and a spectator of course. It was Thompson version #2 or #3, depending on if you count the early oval-only events. Anyway, this was the so-called "George Weaver" circuit called Thompson Raceway, 1957-1967. In my opinion, it was the best version ... better than today's layout with the oval.
