Thompson grid, around 1963. F-Production. The P1800 on the left would have been almost new. This is a great period pic. I wish I knew who the two people in the foreground were.
P.S. after a bit more digging, I found this:
"Jim Shellington in his Lotus 7A consults with Candy Poole. In the back, Art Tattersall's P1800 was a surprisingly quick Volvo and this shot also includes Tom Flaherty in his Alfa."
Thompson, 1956. So who's the dude with his sweater tucked into his khaki's? (He drove the 4-cylinder Ferrari that weekend but didn't do too well). Hint: he went on to win LeMans and build his own "sport cars."
"Candy" much later in life. Same car but with roll bar added. The PBX Special is currently for sale. It'd be a great vintage racer with lots of provenance.
