Ooooh, I like!
Obligatory pic:
And I'm gonna see Lyle on Saturday night. I wish Robert Earl Keen was part of the show.
Car builder and driver Raoul "Sonny" Balcean (Bal-CANE), is second from right in this pic from the fifties. He went on to great gigs with the Scarab and Cobra teams. But then he carved out a great career for himself in the industry. Read his book. Seriously. Fascinating story.

Where is the impala in that? Isn't that just like angry's corvair?
In reply to 914Driver :
Yeah, it was a Steve Sanford sketch of "a '65 Corvair trimmed out like a '61 Impala 'bubbletop'. Similar rooflines inspired the connection; note the cut down Impala interior trim pieces, too. Stock Corvair taillight panel; side trim stops at the quarter panel top. Typical hop up goodies on the Corvair flat Six."
His Facebook page is a treat. Like this:
"1964 Chevy Impala SS gets a new look with a roof swap from a '63-'64 Pontiac GP. I mainly wanted the concave rear window for this, but an added benefit was the squared-off lines of both roof and body now in better harmony overall compared to the stock Chevy roof. Note too the '66-'67 Dodge Charger taillight; the long horizontal look fits this area more comfortably than the stock Chevy items. The deck lid is mildly pancaked to accommodate.
Seeing as how this is a traditional custom car rather than a by the book Lowrider, the rolling stock is simple 15" chrome reverse wheels with 1" whitewalls. Suspension lowering should be basic; if you are going lifts, keep it old school with a simple setup like in the early 'Sixties with maybe a single pump and battery to be authentic.
The blended paint shown is in the best Bill Carter/Winfield/Joe Andersen/ Himsl (for Zocchi) etc tradition."

I really, really like them both.
Episode 20230726 of Duke's low pass series. I'm assuming there is some telephoto depth-of-field compression going on here:
Would not one loose their license for a stunt like that? Seems sort of irresponsible and dangerous. Guys on golfcart don't seem to hear him approaching.
Or, is it photoshop?
