In the 1970s & 80s, Russian racers modified magnesium helicopter wheels (multi-piece 14 X 9") to replace the heavy steelies.

Yep. Dual carb intake from what I can find. Usually found on Trans AM racecars or others of that vintage.

I have seen a few of those (online). They are based on 4-doors, which have the distinctive rear window / overhang. You can see how they combined the front and rear door to make the new door.
One of the saving graces of the Corvair's rather heavy rear weight bias is it's wheel base, so, performance driving one of those could get... interesting...
