In reply to 914Driver :

Tom Cotter is participating at Goodwood this year. I'm not sure which car he's bringing. Probably the Cunningham. (The only reason we were able to get a room at the Falls Village Inn for the Lime Rock Historics last weekend was because Tom didn't do Lime Rock this year because of Goodwood. He usually books all the rooms at the Falls Village Inn for himself and his entourage).

I'm flummoxed. What is it? It looks like an amalgamation of a sixties-era Alfa SZ Zagato (remarkable car) and a 2009 Pontiac G6 (not so remarkable).

Who killed more aviators than von Richtofen?

The Granville brothers.

Uh...10 people died in Gee Bees. Granted that's not a good ratio considering they only built 22 airframes. Remember, they were building hot as berkeley aircraft. They didnt permit ANY carelessness or neglect. The reason so many died in them would be the equivalent of an 80 hour Cessna driver buying an F-16. Odds are heavily favored that he'll lawn dart the Viper.

Richthofen sent 80 opponents down in flames. Not quite the same.

That is impressively well preserved.

I assume that the tires are no longer holding air, or they'd be more compressed than that.  But that International Harvester badge is still legible! Wow.

I knew too. I believed all the things I read and saw about the Gee Bee. Until 1992, when I saw Delmar doing a knife edge in his 100% accurate replica R1. It blew my mind.

Unfortunately The Granvilles have had their name drug for the better part of 90 years.

It's a funny, if inaccurate joke.
