I linked this bike the other day, at least with a different picture. But I feel it's important. (EDIT: I mean "this bike" below, not "that bike" above...)
Now go read the whole story.
Oh yeah, crash-proof bike.

What are those heads?

I've only got one Tower of Power record. Dunno which one it is, but that song "Get Your Feet Back on the Ground" is NAAAASTY.

The comment was actually re the BMW cafe racer, not the Megola. The Megola above was an early attempt at FWD . Supposedly you have to stall the engine when you're stationary and then get it going again to pull away.
I'm pretty sure the heads on the BMW are Krauser 4V heads, which was a pretty rare (not to say expensive) conversion for the old airhead boxer.
Here's a shot of one without the valve cover:

How are those actuated? I dont see lobes and I don't see how the push rods would fit? I am missing something....

I haven't had the covers off mine yet as my trusted BMW mechanic in the UK did a service on the bike before I brought the bike over. However if you look very closely you see two little 'rockers' going underneath the spark plug hole. IIRC these hook up to the original pushrods (or modded ones, can't remember). So it's still a pushrod engine, just with more valves.
Makes a massive difference to how the engine feels, even though my R100 still retains the OEM carbs - supposedly these conversions really wake up with a pair of Dell'Orto pumpers. However those would also wake up the local gas station owners .
