I'm WAY behind you all.
Two kids under 8
SWMBO
40-60 hours work a week(literally make $30/wk at 40, daycare and health insurance is bloody expensive), ~2hr commute
Mountain bike, rider, been on it once since August
Two old road bike projects, no money
'95 Outback daily, needs timing belt/nose-to-tail reseal/tierods/front axles/brakes/exhaust/shifter rebuild/rust work
Searching for a fixer upper first house, where's the time and money for that?! Good thing I married a college graduate.
I have a kid due in a May, so my time will be cut down. Most of my hobbies are based around collecting, and the online world streamlines my searches. We are waiting to get another house before I get a project car. (Which is good because I cant decide on what I want) I do have the luxury of having a 3 day weekend almost every week, so time to work on a project might still be there.
However, more cash would make these decisions happen quicker.

Wow. And 3 houses?
I read that wrong. I thought it was 3 wives and a house, and I wondered how this guy managed to have any hobbies at all!

Lessee- FT parenting a 19mo old troublemaker (the math has been done, and it's more financially viable for me just to stay home than to pay daycare, especially since cars are paid for) RC, Gaming, Hotwheels, attempting to start pinstriping, car club stuff, mr. mom stuff..... booze. Oh, cooking, cleaning, fixing anything that moves.

Sigh. Travel pretty much 3 days a week, trying to catch up (but never managing) on writing. Project cars have been sitting for three years.
I can't imagine having that number of hobbies. I basically have three hobbies. Ultimate Frisbee, soccer and cars and I am not married yet and have no kids so I can't imagine how you people that have those things manage to do that many hobbies.
I'm taking some time off from cars. I have no hobby cars anymore and I just do the required maintenance on our commuters.
I'm currently fixing up my old barn to convert it into a workshop.
Also on tap for this winter is fixing up my tractor.
I'm also into woodworking and gardening.
Too many hobbies? No. Not enough time or ambition.
i guess one good thing about having a e63m3load of hobbies is you never have to wait too long for packages... i love getting a box with my name on it lol

Beyond the cars, the dogs (rescues), and honey-do list, I recently added road biking to the mountain bike and mountain bike polo collection. I just boxed up the n-scale trains, but am considering un-boxing the model cars (1/24th scale stuff).
Haha, 7 years later: So all it took was a pandemic and I started building model cars again. And sold the road bike for a more appropriate to my neighborhood gravel bike.
Too many hobbies? Never...
It is very easy to exhaust disposable income, however.
Some hobbies take presidence over others or get in the way of others.
I am a bourbon connoisseur and that gets in the way of working.
Racing gets in the way of both drinking and working.
In fact I've quit jobs that took time away from racing.
I drink much less now that I am retired, but enjoy it more.
I think I'm about to dive down the guitar rabbit hole...

Ha! I also went back to see what I had posted and then saw it was 7 years ago... interesting to see what has changed since then. By the end of the year, I had no girlfriend, another modern car (the first minivan) and was feeling rather lost.
Now... still feeling a bit lost... some cars have come and gone... I am way deeper into the bikes and guitars - turned over most of the bike fleet (and have even sold a few) and added more than a dozen guitars and a few amps to the collection (need to sell many guitars).
I am still struggling to not add more hobbies to my limited amount of time, space and money.
And lastly, any thread that brings up an old Curmudgeon post gives me pause.
I don't have too many hobbies. I have too little money.
