I have no doubts they're not the shiniest pennies in the jar. If they were, they probably woulda clued into the past 30 years (or more) of advice saying that tire pressures have a direct bearing on MPG, safety, and the life of the tire. But at least they're taking a tiny step toward being slightly less dumb. Would you prefer the people who WON'T inflate their tires specifically because Obama said it was a good idea? *mutter mutter stupid tire-inflatin' liberals rabble rabble*

Boy, that lit a fire.

The OP mentioend that these folks want their tires OVERINFLATED for gas mileage, 'cause Obama told them to.

Sooooo at Honda we always get people just coming in to get the free Honda air that we offer. Everyone knows that it's by far the most superior air you can put in your tires.

Lately though we've been getting a lot of people who are coming in saying "Obama says that you get better MPGs if you raise your tire pressure! Can you raise them up?????" I always just say no. Honda recommends that I only put in the correct PSI recommended for this car. I'm sure it would ruin my CSEs but since these people don't get repair orders written up, they just come in for tire pressure, I don't have to worry. Anyone else think this is ridiculous? Yes I understand you can get better MPGs from this but really, just become some dirty politician says soo the whole world wants to do it? I also don't appreciate the fact that these people try and tell me why I should vote for Obama.

We recieved a little brocure a while back stating that we may use a higher tire pressure but no more than 10% of suggested inflation. Basically "You can run 33psi but suggested is 30psi"

Jensenman, it's really not clear if they want it over-inflated or not. If they do, well, I'd tell 'em no, too. But I'm still betting nine out of 10 of them are on under-inflated tires, and one could easily and safely "raise them up".

Not trying to be a dick to anyone. Just saying people wanting their tires inflated (for a change) shouldn't be a bad thing.

Like I said, I don't care if Obama told them, or McCain, or the magic unicorn they keep in their backyard.

Oh that's right, Bush 1,2, and McCain are actually the same person, McCain has no original ideas, and like Bush 2, plans to continue making China buy everything, make terrorists see non-Muslims as devils, make banks greedy, make oil speculators greedy, and make US car makers produce inefficient crap. I think I heard about that on NPR. Thanks for reminding me. I can't wait until my 15% or 20% tax rate helps Obama's magic save us all.

Last I heard, both Obama and McCain voted for the Wall Street Bailout, and both Obama and McCain want to increase efforts in Afghanistan. All of this adds to our already huge deficit.

Taxes are going up no matter who gets elected. Either they will go up, or people will stop buying our Treasury Notes and we won't be able to borrow any more. Those deals have already been done.

Obama and McCain are both politicians trying to get elected. They will say what they have to, then do what the have to after they get into office. The best you can do is support the lesser of two evils. Obama isn't any kind of messiah, but McCain's economic advisor was Phil Graham, the guy who wrote the regulations that created the Enron fiasco and supported legislation to allow investment banks to get into the mortgage business. He is the greater evil.

Lots of the newer Hondas have the TPMS. They have about a 2psi buffer before the light is set off. I have to tell these people that I can't raise the pressure above the suggested PSI or else it will set the light off. This is another issue as well.

I tell people, "Your tire pressure is fine, I am not going to raise it. If you really wanted it raised there is a gas station down the street with an air compressor." We've been specifically told by the Honda big wigs a couple weeks ago not to go over the recommended PSI.

I would love to make every customer happy, but when my arse is on the line and with jobs few and far between (even tho i hate this job) I'm not going to do it.

And yes I wanted to smack the crap out of the person who tried putting the sticker on my tool box. It's only a crapsman but it's in good shape and only sports some GRM stickers and some other automotive related ones. Along with my GRM calender.

Neither political party gets it. A comedian once said "The Republicans are the party of bad ideas and the Democrats are the party of no ideas." How true.

That being said I am voting for Obama because the idea of Palin being in office scares me.

Damn right. I'm guessing the people cruising around looking for "free honda air" at 2PM on a Wednesday afternoon are the same people who watch "Personal injury lawyer" commercials at 4PM while watching Jerry Springer and feasting on state-sponsored frozen chicken fingers and grape drink.

Suddenly you're the guy who over-inflated the tires on purpose, and Barry Goldenbergstein is trying to huck you in jail for a hate crime.

Racist.

Ain't THAT the truth. :-/ Like the guy who told me 'just jam a plug' into a Z speed rated tire. Nope, inside patch only. I knew this yarkoff from another shop and damn right if the tire blew he'd have billy3esq on my azz instantly if not sooner.

No matter what Little Mac or Obamassein say, we stick with the factory recommended repair procedures and specs. If Mr or Mrs Customer want something done outside of that, they have to do it themselves. For instance: many cars can have the seat belt light and warning chime turned off. As a matter of written company policy, no employee may disable any safety system in any way, even if the method to do so is published in the owners' manual.

I get people all the time who have bought blingo rims somewhere and the TPMS transponders will not fit the rims, meaning the low tire light stays on and the chime sounds. The guys who sell the blingos tell them that we will turn the light off (disable the TPMS system). Oh, no we won't.

My daughter came to me with the question, "Why are my tires wearing on bothe shoulders?" I checked the pressures, around 20 psi. Raised them all to 35. she said she couldn't believe how much better the car drove. gave her a pressure gauge and how to use it.

Sorry, non political. Still waiting for that man on the white horse.
