Pirates are everywhere. Caribbean, Somalia, wherever. If you travel in these areas, as in outside areas patrolled by the US Coast Guard, you must protect yourselves. A machete, known as a cutlass in these areas, is no match for a 12 guage. Travel unprotected, you will be a statistic. A bloody one.

The tall ship,peg legs and eye patches may be gone but piracy is not dead. The private boater needs to be on guard every where but in some places in the world they even take over big container and commercial ships.
