Just to be clear, Canada can't take credit for Joan Baez, who was born in Staten Island.

They have been mentioned already but The Tragically Hip are so good that they need to be mentioned again, and again until everybody has heard them. Here's my favorite song of theirs: Highway Girl

Not as good as they once were, but how have the Barenaked Ladies not been mentioned?

Nope. Home For A Rest. Put that on in a bar and you’ll spot the Canadians immediately.

BNL wasn’t mentioned because it’s supposed to be bands you haven’t heard of :)

One of my favorites: Colin James, especially when he’s doing his blues work. His last couple of albums have been really good. Jeff Healey was another great guitarist, best known in the US as the guitarist in the movie Roadhouse.

Oh aye, but then it seemed to devolve into listing all bands with a genesis north of the border.  A disappointing number of people have only heard one song from BNL, and it's certainly not their best.

Feist aint bad either...

It seemed to turn into bands I like but didn't know were Canadian. Wintersleep, The New Pornographers, The Strumbellas, Feist, etc.

I didn't know The New Pornographers were Canadian; I haven't listened to them much, but was blown away by Letter From An Occupant, which is always in my random playlists...

Every time I hear any Arcade Fire, I make myself feel better by remembering they are from Quebec.

Awful.

I just assumed that they weren't because Neko Case was in the band.

For those who enjoy Hendrix, step into the wayback machine and find Mahogany Rush: https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=8&v=PtP3w1JQoEw

No one mentioned Guess Who: https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=1&v=uqT59dDf8EU

If I'm not mistaken, some of the band went on to start Bachman Turner Overdose.

They're as Canadian as Arcade Fire or The Band ;)

Also, Snow was a joke I threw in there to see if anyone was paying attention.

Can't believe the Hip weren't on the list until page 2. Had I not gone to college in upstate NY with a bunch of hockey players from Canada, I would have completely missed out!
