Condolences. Cancer is one of those things where it seems like we've made so many strides in treatment and yet it still takes so many.
Sorry to hear about your friend - too young.
My dad lost his sweetheart (my mom) after 46+ years of marriage due to cancer. My sister dies a year later of throat cancer (46 years old) and he calls me with prostate cancer two years after my sister died (he beat it).
He was pissed at cancer.......
My dad had a run-in with cancer about 40 years ago. He fought it off with surgery and some pretty crude radiation treatment. He picked up another variant a couple of years ago that was incurable but slow. Lost him a couple of months ago.
My mom was hit with breast cancer a few years back, too. She beat that.
So yeah, it sucks. But thanks to the medical community, I got to have a dad past the age of 6 and I still have a mother. Sometimes we win.
Yes, indeed ... the big C really sucks. I fear it. My father passed from it. I do what I can to avoid it, but if it's in the genes, it's difficult to avoid.
I beat it a few years back. Mom is on the losing end of round three. Now we’re in keep her comfortable and slow it down mode. Thankfully she got to her 51’st wedding anniversary and got to see a bunch of grand babies.
