Good luck. When I was 26 hours out I was near catatonic.
Cruise around and you'll find Carnival is at the bottom of the list. Pick virtually any other cruise line and you'll find a totally different feel and you'll never go on another Carnival cruise again. (unless you are a 20 something)
The super deluxe Jumbo sized ships of any cruise line create issues with how far out they have to "park" and therefore how fast you can get ashore.
They also over burden the destination port which makes it hard to do things and means you can't do as much.
They can't even stop at some ports.
You also lose some of the intimacy of the smaller ships. None of them are real intimate, but on the smaller ships you are more likely to make friends that will last after the cruise is over because you'll see the same people more often.
One tip on any cruise line is to get to know the entertainers. Part of their job is to mingle. They will tell you the best places to go and the super secret ways to get off & on in a hurry. I've had them take me on shore excursions I'd have never thought of or been able to afford. They get discounts from the locals, kinda like travel agents, so they will tell passengers about the excursion.
I've had them put me in their group in a rental of a boat and I've spent all day diving around Hawaii for less than $50.
I always liked the Big Red Boats. At least they look like proper ships. I think they all been scrapped.
Blessing in disguise? Now you get to take mama on an awesome honeymoon! - one that doesn't involve a boat with a thousand smelly non english speaking mouthbreathers on it. Seriously. Delta was running retardedly cheap specials to San Juan a few weeks ago. From there, grab a puddle jumper to any island that isn't Puerto Rico....or Cuba I guess.
Anyway, congrats on the wedding AND not having to go on a cruise!!!
Hope the honeymoon is awesome!
Really sorry to hear about the last minute change in honeymoon plans. But as others said, adapt and enjoy. It'll be a story you can tell your kids many years from now. Enjoy the wedding!!
I have zero desire to ever step foot on a cruise ship. Closest I ever want to get to one is looking at it as I cruise by on a catamaran cruise in the Bahamas...
