after 11 months of working in SC while my wife and kids held down the fort in MI, i've landed a job with another brake supplier in MI and i'm headed back to the mitten next week! i turned in 2 weeks notice yesterday afternoon, but since i'm going to "a competitor" i was told that yesterday was my last day, which is cool because i get to enjoy some more NC and SC mountain-bike trails before loading up and heading back to MI on the 19th.
through it all, i've relied on my GRM family to help keep my sanity. so i thank all of you for helping me make it through what i hope is the "or worse" part of my marriage vows.
oh, during the interview, one of the chief engineers saw the GRM brake article (June '08) on my resume and asked if i had ever done the challenge. when i told him i've been to every challenge since '02, he said "we should do a challenge car here. i've got an AWD turbo talon out back."
Congrats man! Good job on making stuff happen until things worked out!
Pat, that's AWESOME! Congratulations!
Wow... I didn't realize you were sans family down there. Hats off to you, way to man up and do what you got to.

Hmmmmmmmm.
Congrats to the new job and improved living situation.
only this place could maintain a level of sanity akin to that of Angry.
Well done on the job, I am glad you found something closer to home. (though I feel sorry that "home" is that sorry state.)
uh huh...we see thru your little story Angry....leave Michigan for a little while for "work" (mopuntain biking huh?!?) head south, and suddenly ...as spring is breaking...you "magically" land a job back home....we're on to you! You couldve just said you couldnt handle another frigid northern winter...no one would have held it against you!
Glad to hear your situation is improving! I hope the job is great and the best of your past is the worst of your future!

"You've got a job." and " Let's build a Challenge car." all in the same day?
Holy crap! That's gotta feel good!
Yes, the economy is bad in Michigan.
Yes, the entire state takes a bad rap.
Yes, Detroit is rough.
Yes, my employer hails out of Detroit too (I94 & Chalmers)
BUT, travel the entire state and you will fall in love.
SW Corner rocks! NW Dunes are awesome. The UP is another country. My son attends school in Holland.
Good Luck to Angry. I kinda like Michigan.
So glad you get to be the hubby and Dad again Pat, congratulations mate.
That's great news, I was afraid Ozzy had died.
I guess this means you won't be at the May LeMons race?
But congrats on going back to fambly etc!
That's awesome news. Congrats! The potential Challenge project is icing on the cake.
That is great news. I'm excited for you.
And the "company" Challenge car would be great! You could make like the Sucker 'vette team!

Congrats! I'm glad for you. Since you are flush with employment, don't forget us former auto workers still looking
Sad that you're less local. Happy that your life is getting back to normal.
