I will second the Ikea butcher block. However, they just changed it in the last 6 months. It is a bit thinner now.
(I know this because we redid our kitchen last year and our laundry room this year. They changed the countertop in between those times)
Also, the HF 4.5" angle grinders work pretty well for a LONG time.
Necro bump for consumer season:
I just purchased one of these amazon basics antenna

Those headphones are better than they should be for $15
The majority of kitchen appliances I have bought from Aldi. I run a cooking website, but I'm broke and have a car habit, so corners need to be cut. The only thing I've bought that I won't recommend is the food processor. The electric pressure cooker has been a godsend at half the price of an instant pot, electric steamer, stock pots, cutting boards, and even knives have been cheap but surprising.
And once in a while, 6.99 digital leave in thermometers with a wireless receiver and doneness alarms. Just have to keep an eye on the ad
The Penn Fierce reels use the same saltwater quality gears and bearings as the higher priced Battle models, but have different drag washers. You can get the upgraded drag washers (which are, in fact, much smoother) for $5 and get save about $30 overall for a DIY Battle quality reel. With the introduction of the Fierce II, the original Fierce reels can be deeply discounted if you can still find them.
Pappy Van Winkle is amazing bourbon. Unfortunately it's all but unobtainable and very pricy. W.L.Weller comes from the same barrels and can be found and purchased by mere mortals.
I love my Thermopen, use it daily, and would have gladly saved $75. DOH!
I wanted a pair of on the ear Headphones with a replaceable cord AND controls for my iPhone, but did not want to pay $300 for Beats. So I bought a pair for $20 and they rock.
