He was an icon of my teenage years (and beyond). Sadly, the world is a little less musical now. :-(

if i recall correctly chef already was no more, as Isaac left because of that famed Scientology episode. apparently religious persecution is ok as long as it isn't your religion.

That's if you consider Scientology a religion and not a cult. Scary stuff if you look into it.
Sad to hear.
I once went into a scientology "church" when I was 15 visiting my brother in DC. My brother knew what it was but he insisted on me figuring out what their deal was. I sat down for 5 minutes the guy asked me for $15 to see a movie on L. Ron Douchebag and my brother had to drag me out of there because I was ready to Chuck Norris Round House kick someone in the head.
Man. His version of "Walk on by" still gives me chills. I've got an awesome record with him and Dionne Warwick at home that I haven't listened to in a while. Music for people who love music:
Easy, y'all. I don't defend any organized religion since I think they're all cults, but if you actually get the TRUTH about scientology, its no more berkeleyed up than any other. The whole billion-year contract is a little wacko, but the beliefs are actually pretty tame compared to... oh, let's say, Christianity?
At any rate, having worked with Matt and Trey before, they insisted that Issaac was a knowing participant in the Scientology episode and it had nothing to do with his leaving the show. They mentioned that the church was upset and they may have pressured Hayes to disassociate with the show, but Issaac himself was not offended. A press release at the time said that Issaac actually assisted tweaking the script.
Anyway... RIP, shaft man.
