Pick up a set of these at gamestop.
Fixes everything, and I no longer have a controller without them. Bout the only downside is I can no longer stuff my controller into a cup holder to get the phone or take a piss because I will end up hitting the gas or something.
In reply to Grizz:
I've seen those, and passed on them, thinking they'd be more of a gimmick than actually functional. If you say they're good, I'll pick some up next time I see them. Thanks for the positive review.

Ah, so you are talking about shoulder buttons! No, they are not even remotely the same. The placement in relation to the rest of your hand, the action, and the button's "feel" are all substantially different. The X360 controller's trigger was so natural when I first picked it up that I couldn't believe I had ever played with anything else. It's like a Miata shifter, it's just "right".
Heh, the same trigger on the xbox controller drives me berkeleying insane. I can't deal with it.
I thought we were just talking about range of motion and whether or not they're analog. That part is the same. Placement and shape, not so much.
OB would have a hard time driving in forza sims on the 360....the only way to drive is everything off and know how to "pedal" both those triggers or lightly drag them.

Yeah probably. I'm not real worried about it though, since i don't have Forza.
Speaking of Forza, our Xbox came with it, and I asked Santa for one of these: http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-360-Wireless-Speed-Wheel/dp/B0050SY0L2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1354808768&sr=8-1&keywords=xbox+racing
Anybody tried one? Amazon reviews are pretty good.
Tom, search for 360 compatible Fanatec wheels(i know, expensive)......the microsoft options are rubbish compared to them.
OB, lol
Sony is known for making high quality products... MS is known for... well...
I own a PS3, but would consider myself a casual gamer. If I get to play, it's Wednesday night's in the GT5/GRM racing league.
When I made the decision to get the PS3 the main factors were:
- Blue Ray player (still one of the best on the market)
- Free online play
- GT5
I've not been disappointed. In fact, I actually purchased a second PS3 when I moved into my house and go a "man-cave".

Well, for my casual use, it should be fine for $30. Better than a regular controller, anyhow. I actually have a nice Logitech force-feedback wheel-and-pedal combo that I used with the PS3 for a while when I was playing GT5 a lot, but it was a pain to use. I built a litle stand to attach the wheel to when I was sitting on my couch, and after a while when I wasn't playing the game anymore, I got tired of looking at it and the whole works is stored away now.

I enjoy my ps3, have for a few years now, but I haven't played xbox so I am biased. The biggest disappointment is the lack of any decent racing games. The latest Dirt series games just suck. The Nascar games feel kinda thrown together at the last minute just to sell something. I may be in the minority, but I was very disappointed with GT5. Actually got rid of it about 3 weeks after I purchased it. Have seen some screen shots for a new Grid game. Hope that is done well. Aside from motorsports, the PS3 has some great games, especially if you enjoy fighting dragons.

Dirt 3? That game is awesome.
Nascar games have always felt like that really.
When did you buy gt5? Because pretty much all of the problems have been fixed, and it's now 20 bucks for the XL version that comes with a bunch of the DLC. At that price it might be worth trying again.
A good game for decompressing is Fuel. It's one of those where you don't realize you just spent 5 hours aimlessly driving around in a Semi in the wilderness.

I was in the same boat with GT5. Actually destroyed my original disc in a fit of rage. Bought the XL after trying it out on a friends rig, and they're right, it's a LOT better. Plus, free stuff! Got mine for a tenner around Black Friday.

I have one. I actually prefer the controller, although if you want to try it I am willing to pass mine on to you. PM me if interested.

Interesting. I just didn't feel like doing the grind in GT5.......I'm playing to have some fun, not endlessly do $$$$ races so I can buy a different car for the next championship, etc.
It's fun, but when you start having to do the same race 5+ times to win it got old.
I'm hoping I can get a steering wheel soon and I'll give it another try and pick up the new F1 game.
The best part about GT5 is collecting the cars, and racing with your friends. The GRM GT5 league is a riot!

The new seasonal events mean that the regular races are pointless. Race em once, disregard forever, play online. When you can get about a million just for golding a drift trial you don't ever have to worry about cash.
It pretty much got rid of the grind entirely.

I've suffered from a "I have too much money" in forza since FM2.......FM4, I'm glad I bought every 1000cr car in the auction house for the first 2 months, as those prices are now around what they cost to purchase in the game....I've sold off duplicates and made a credit fortune on there. Plus I hit the 550 car garage limit cap.

There's a cap in Forza? I never managed to hit it in F3 or 2. I am disappoint in myself.

That is an issue I have always had with GT (probably the same in Forza I suspect). It's not a very good GAME. The game aspect of it is pretty silly. The only thing really to do is collect cars. You have to like it for the driving experience and the driving experience is best done with a wheel, all driving aids off, and slick tires. It really can be fun just to drive around like that (especially if you have a car with the engine where the car gods intended it to be, in the back )
The real fun in GT come from the online experience. More specifically with groups of people you meet or know (there are some idiots out there, but not terribly bad).
BTW, don't listen to Celica, this is what he drives in GT5:
Can you really trust a person like that?

Actually I've had pretty good experiences just joining random rooms, quite a few of my friends have been found like that.
Granted, I'm not trustworthy either, because I do things like this for fun:
And the opinion of anyone who would rally a Viper ACR is suspect.
You guys are convincing me to try it out again.
Now if I could justify the cost of the Fanatec wheel and pedals!
I've had a 360 for 4 years. No problems with it ever. With kids you want to look at the game library. Both systems have the same AAA titles. 360 can be more fun because of the Achievements in the games. Also 360 has the Halo franchise which is a dealbreaker for me. I will say there are no games on the PS3 that have made me think about buying another console.

I have the wheel and pedals, as mentioned. The GRM league sounds like fun, except for one problem: I suck.

I've raced with some of the guys before, the skill level varies wildly. Granted i'm usually a pylon at the back of the pack, but it's still fun.
