No worries, we have at least a few people with the same "issue" in each race:

I honestly don't know why anyone would *want* to play online after my experiences...Bet you got some good feedback on your (and your moms) sexuality though eh? One reason I have no interest in online shooters is because of this. I have not really run into this in online GT5 fortunately, quite the opposite actually. More common is a bunch of guys getting drunk or high. I was recently in a room with a few Canadians smoking it up and have been on with a smokey drinky New Zealander a few times. If I had kids, the PS3 or XBOX online experience would likely scare the heck out of me.
This is all very true, but there's a very easy way around it. In the console preferences you can change the volume setting for voices. I have it turned all the way down. The only sign I have of other people talking is a little icon that flashes next to their name in the game lobbies. I might miss out on some co-op strategy, but it's worth the tradeoff of not having to listen to drunk/high/illiterate/tween losers shouting profanity and playing music over their headsets.
As for xbox vs PS3: I have both, and the ps3 hasn't been turned on in months. I hate paying for xbox live - especially that you have to pay for xbox live to even use NetFlix (???) - but the online service for xbox is 1000% better than PS3. You can tell that it's a paid versus free service.
The PS3 hardware is better, but the xbox gaming experience is better. To me, it's like the PS3 is an engineer's console, the xbox is a gamer's console. Since I sort of identify as a bit of each, I like having both. Plus Blu-Ray at 1080p on my projector is aweeeeeesome.

Late to the party, but the xBox destroys the PS3 in the motion category.
In reply to z31maniac: I can keep up with the wheel users with a controller no problem.

The PS3 has achievements as well, they're just called trophies.
