Yesterday I talked to a guy that is headed out to Nelson Ledges with a team to run the ChumpCar race. They had a Toyota MR2 turbo prepped for the race and he was picking up some last minute things ( dist cap, rotor, etc) at the parts store I work at. He told me that he's moving from here in NH to Arizona and the race just happened to be scheduled when he was moving, so they were gonna hit up the race on the way.
We were both surprised at each other. He must have not known that I knew what the ChumpCar series was and I was surprised to see someone from this area head out for a race like that.
I'll be checking the results to see how well they do.
I'm heading out there tomorrow. I hope our team does better this time. At VIR we got 6 laps into the race and the engine blew.
Look for GRM regular Will Nonnamaker in the field. He's driving an astroturf-covered Mazda RX-7. He rules.
link for the event?

Well we survived the race. Came in 27th. We lost 2 hours to a blown rear main seal which oiled the clutch then another 45 minutes when I rolled the car.
We banged some dents out of the roof, kindof fixed one of the lights, scraped a ton of mud off of it and sent the car back on track.
Had a few friends up there this weekend. Sounds like it was a crazy race!
Justin M drove one of the V6 Fiero's and the team decided not to run after dark (ran out of tires) using the race mostly as a test and tune for next season.
Mike Skeen drove the winning E30! Very proud of him and all he's accomplished this year. I'm pretty excited to be getting my feet wet with wheel to wheel racing in LeMons next year in an E36!
Yeah there were some real bone heads out there. You it's bad when they red flag the race and bring everyone into the pits for a group ass chewing.
